Celebrate National Science Week at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium

Dive beneath the surface and discover science in action at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium during National Science Week, running from 15–23 August 2026.
National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology. At the aquarium, families and students can explore how marine animals move, feed, communicate and adapt to their environments.
From sharks and rays to penguins, seahorses and our resident saltwater crocodile, every encounter can inspire new questions about animals, habitats, ecosystems and conservation.
Grow curious minds
The 2026 school theme, Seeds of Science: nurturing science for all, celebrates how curiosity can grow into knowledge.
Encourage your young scientists to choose an animal during their visit and look closely. What features help it survive? What does it eat? How does it move through its habitat? One simple observation can be the beginning of a much bigger discovery.
Bring marine science into the classroom
Teachers can continue the learning with our free curriculum-aligned worksheets, videos, activities and excursion resources.
Whether you are planning a school excursion or a fun and educational family day out, SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium is a great place to make science feel real.
