DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
Developing Diversity & Inclusion is one of Merlin key targets, both among our staff attractions around the world and our visitors.
We aim to create an inclusive and diverse workplace where people can be themselves and reflect a multicultural mix feeling inside our business and among our guests where everyone feels valued, no matter their age, gender, disability or sexual orientation.
We try to reach this aim by:
- Finding dynamic work arrangements for our employees where everyone can be their truest self.
- As an international company, we balance cultural and national diversity in our senior and local teams.
- An aim to also have a gender balance in all our teams, from top levels to local teams.
- We are passionate about creating the best experiences for all our guests, with empathy and lots of fun along the way. So we keep on improving and maximizing accessibility.
- Finally, our standards towards any form of abusive behavior:
0% TOLERANCE – 100% FUN

Quiet at the Aquarium
A visit adapted for people with autism and other requirements.

Sensory stickers for neurodivergent guests.
You can find in our “Sensory Kit Box” sensory stickers with the traffic lights colors free to use if you want to show how you are feeling during your visit. This will also let our team know how to sensibly act with you. If you need, ask our admissions team to have a quieter visit free of noise or to provide you with some headphones.

Guests with a visual or hearing impairment
SEA LIFE Benalmádena contains some areas with low lighting. Within some displays, the lights my also seem lower, however this is to best imitate the fish or creature’s natural habitat.
Guests with low vision, a visual impairment or hearing difficulties, may struggle to experience the attraction fully; however, you are able to bring a carer, personal assistant, support worker or interpreter to assist.
Located next to each display there is information displayed on digital screens.
There is a tactile area, the Touchpool, where you will be able to touch a starfish, a sea cucumber and a sea urchin.

Guests with mobility impairments.
The aquarium is based over two floors with a lift located at the two main entrances. There are some rest/seating areas located throughout the attraction. Should you need, please feel free to ask a member of staff to locate the nearest seating.

Hidden Disabilities Lanyard
If you have a hidden condition such as Autism, or any other sensory requirement you can have one of our green lanyards displayed at admissions and free to use. If you use one of these, we will know that you may require a little extra assistance during your visit to the attraction.
What you can expect when using a green lanyard:
- You can tell us if there is anything we can do to assist you.
- We may ask if there is anything we can do to assist you.
- We provide you with a sensory kit box with sensory stickers and headphones at your disposal.
- We can offer you your visit to be more comfortable free of sound and music.
- Avoid queuing. Ask to one of our staff members at admission and you will avoid making a queue.
