Flatfish

About flatfish

Their special shape makes them unique.

Whether turbot, plaice, halibut, flounder or sole, they all have one thing in common: their shape. They are very flattened at the sides and both eyes are on the upper side. In the course of growth one eye moves from the lower to the upper side.

At SEA LIFE Timmendorfer Strand you can go looking for our flatfish. But you have to be very precise. Our flatfish like to bury themselves in the sand, so it will be a real challenge to find them.
