About the Argentine black and white tegu
- The tegu is a lizard that grows much bigger than our native lizards. It can grow up to 1.70 meters long and weigh 10 kilograms.
- The strong legs end in sharp claws, which the tegu uses for climbing and digging. Tegus live in self-dug living and sleeping caves, which they inhabit together with other tegus during the winter time, but also alone in the remaining time. The hibernation lasts between 4 and 6 months.
