Eel

About the eel

• The European eel is native to the whole of Europe, but is unfortunately threatened with extinction. Its population has declined by 98% since the 1970s. This is due, among other things, to heavy fishing, environmental pollution or water pollution control.
• It is a true wanderer: for spawning, the eel migrates from fresh water to the sea. Its journey takes between one and one and a half years!
