Dugong Tunnels

Make Dad’s special day a memorable one, with these fun ideas for Fathers’ Day activities in Sydney.

SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium

Finding Nemo is one of the all-time favourite father-and-child stories. So, take Dad to see the clownfish at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium. Or knock the excitement up a notch with a real shark diving experience! Picture it: you and Dad, swimming with the sharks, nothing between you and their toothy grins except a wetsuit! It’s a seriously fun experience which will give you something to talk about at family events, forever. If Dad isn’t a get-wet kind of guy, there are adorable penguins to meet on a Penguin Expedition. Or, spend some quality time gazing at the colourful fish and graceful rays. Grab a gift voucher and let Dad decide!

Take a Hike

Get closer to your 10,000 steps-a-day goals with a walk through one of our stunning National Parks. They come alive with wildflowers in spring – so Fathers' Day is a fantastic time to visit! Because access requires a certain level of fitness, Heathcote National Park isn't as busy as the nearby Royal National Park. But the rewards are there if you make an effort to explore. Swimming holes are abundant, though it might be too chilly for a dip! For something less adventurous, why not explore our beautiful city instead? Wander the streets of The Rocks and be surprised by views, food, and history at every turn!

WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo

Extend your city walk into Darling Harbour, and explore its famous playground and free harbourside activities. Then, check out the amazing WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo: home of the ‘Aussie Big 5.’ That’s koalas, kangaroos, crocodiles, wombats and platypus. Even seasoned Sydneysiders melt when they see Ringo the Wombat waddling past. Adorable! Don’t miss a chance to see Dad feed the animals, and hear more about them at a zookeeper talk. It’s your best opportunity for the whole family to meet our most iconic Aussie animal friends, all in one place.

Parklife Picnics

Sydney has no end of family-friendly picnic areas; from the beaches to the bush. Hire a rowboat at Lane Cove National Park in Sydney’s north, or stretch out in one of the riverside picnic areas. To the west, explore Prospect Reservoir, one of Sydney’s original water supplies. The open parkland has BBQs and great views over the water! In the south, Carss Park at Blakehurst also has BBQs by the water. You can offer to take on the cooking duties, but Dad will probably want to wrangle the tongs himself!

Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures

Get out of town and head south for the adventure of a lifetime at Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures. Tucked amongst the rainforest and volcanic hillsides of Illawarra, the location is breathtaking! Here, you can strap in and go ziplining through the canopy! There’s a tree-top walk with a 360-degree view over the mountains, lush green hills and coastline. It’s a magnificent way to appreciate the bushland and get some fresh air with your family, only a day-trip from Sydney. It’s worth giving Dad a ticket for Fathers’ Day, just to see his face as he soars overhead on a zipline!
