Underwater Reef Rave
- Friday 17th January 2025
SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium erupted into an underwater dance party today as tiny ravers celebrated the spectacular return of Day and Night on the Reef. The 1.7 million litre oceanarium transformed into a child-friendly nightclub, with DJ Lenny Pearce dropping beats that had even the fish grooving – including a show-stopping remix of "Baby Shark" that brought the house down.
"It was so cool to have a Reef Rave at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium," said DJ Lenny Pearce, who kept the underwater party pumping all morning.
Young party-goers experienced the ultimate glow-up, dancing in front of the giant frozen wave and stepping into the magical world of bioluminescent shores at Moonlight Beach. This epic celebration marks the return of the Great Barrier Reef oceanarium, where visitors journey from dusk till dawn through a series of installations – from the mesmerizing Jelly Lullaby zone to an interactive coral spawning spectacle.
The oceanarium houses hundreds of tropical fish, eagle rays and five female leopard sharks (Stegostoma tigrinum). These sharks are part of the pioneering Great Australian Stegostoma Semen Expedition (GASSE), a world-first reproductive science initiative aimed at boosting wild shark populations.
