Sea Life Sydney Aquarium celebrates first same sex wedding

Today is #oneyearsince same sex was legalised in Australia and what better way to celebrate such an important date in our history than sharing news of our first same sex wedding held in the brand new Day and Night on the Reef zone! 

High School sweethearts, Monica & Mel, celebrated their wedding at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium on November 17th with a magical underwater themed wedding and the very apt hashtag #findingMeMo. 

After 15 years together they were finally able to come out to their parents this year. Without marriage equality and the people who showed their support for the LGBTQI community Monica says they “wouldn't be able to have had the courage to stop hiding who we are and our love.

We are absolutely honoured to have been part of the beautiful couples special day and wish them all the best.
