Darwins Lab Close Up

Yes, that’s right, we cater for school excursions! In fact, SEA LIFE is one of Sydney’s most popular school excursion venues. We pride ourselves on being a place where people of all ages come to explore and discover the wonders of the sea.

All our lessons are curriculum based and meet lesson requirements for the NSW and Australian curriculum, and we guarantee your students will absolutely love you for taking them out of the classroom and in to our underwater world for the day.

When you visit SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium with your class you will be immersed in learning throughout our interactive habitat zones, that have ongoing state-of-the-art exhibit design. Along the way you'll encounter some of the world's most incredible animals, including the beautiful dugongs, huge sharks, massive sawfish, mysterious stingrays, jellyfish, penguins, seahorses, thousands of tropical fish and much, much more.

Have your students ever held a hermit crab, or a shark tooth or egg? Well they can do all of that here at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium. Our motto is Amazing Discovery - and this is exactly what your class will find!

Guided School Tour

Enhance your students' place-based learning on our guided tours. You will be met by one of our engaging animal educators who will give your students a formal subject-based lesson. Each lesson focuses on building knowledge on a particular subject or topic, such as a particular habitat, external features or classification of animals. Our educators will be there to answer any tricky questions that come up along the way as well as can give special insights to the animals they look after on a daily basis. The class runs for an hour and then you have another hour to roam freely and take in all the other exhibits.

Self-guided School Tour

Our self-guided tours allow students and teachers to visit the aquarium and explore the habitats freely. There is no formal lesson but we have a range of lesson plans that have been developed for us by teachers, to ensure your excursion is full of engaging and interactive activities that are aligned with your curriculum, with things to do before, during and after your visit. You can learn more through other resources we have available.

Whatever tour you decide to embark on, your class will leave having learnt new fun facts and knowledge about our animals.

After you have finished exploring the aquarium, there are many places around Darling Harbour where you can go for lunch before you head back to school. There’s plenty of space to sit and have a packed lunch and plenty of options to buy something too. After which you can hop back on the bus, where your class will be sure to be chatting the whole journey about the wonders they have seen.

Mixing education with fun and hands on learning, results in an exciting day that will be remembered for years by all. Ready to book your students in? Fill out of SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium school booking form.
