Hermit Crab

Einsiedlerkrebs

Did you know?

  • Hermit Crabs are found in the North and Baltic Seas as well as in the eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean. Here they prefer to live on rocky coasts.
  • The hind part of the Hermit Crab is not covered with a shell. To protect it, it looks for an empty snail shell. As soon as it has outgrown its shell, it moves into a new, larger one.
  • You can get to know Sebastian the Hermit Crab up close at our Explorer Area! But be careful: he can snap if he wants to!
