Blue-lined Surgeonfish

Blaustreifen Doktorfisch Neu

Did you know?

  • The Blue-lined Surgeonfish is known for its striking blue and yellow stripe pattern, which helps it to camouflage itself in coral reefs. These stripes break up the contours of its body and make it harder for predators to spot, especially in the colourful and complex environments of the reefs.
  • The fish has sharp, knife-like spines at the base of its tail, which it uses as a weapon of defence against predators. These spines can cause significant injuries, which has earned the fish the name ‘Surgeonfish’, as the spines are reminiscent of surgical scalpels.
  • The Blue-lined Surgeonfish is known for its aggressive and territorial behaviour, especially towards conspecifics or other fish that invade its territory. This behaviour is particularly pronounced during the mating season and in areas with limited food resources, as the fish vigorously defends its feeding grounds and territory.
