Medical Requirements - Please read before booking

Scuba Diving is physically demanding and can be dangerous if you suffer from certain medical conditions. It is very important that you, the diver, do not suffer from any contraindications to diving.

All divers must read and complete our medical declaration questionnaire & receive an accredited medical clearance from a Qualified Dive Physician before booking their Shark Dive:

If you are booking a dive or purchasing a gift voucher for another person, please ensure the recipient is aware of the medical requirements. 

COVID-19

IMPORTANT NOTICE - Conditions that may prevent you from diving

If you suffer from any of the below medical conditions, then you will be required to obtain a fully completed medical clearance from Qualified Dive Physician before booking your dive;

Please note: If you are pregnant (or planning to become pregnant), you will not be permitted to dive.

• Issues with lungs, breathing, heart or blood (affecting physical or mental performance)
• Struggle to perform moderate exercise (eg. walking 1.6 kilometres or swimming 200 metres without resting) OR have been unable to participate in normal physical activity due to fitness or health reasons within the past 12 months
• Have issues with eyes, ears or nasal passages/sinuses
• Have had surgery within the last 12 months, or have ongoing problems related to past surgery
• Have lost consciousness, had migraine headaches, seizures, strokes, significant head injury, or suffer from persistent neurologic injury or disease
• Currently undergoing treatment (or have required treatment in the last five years) for psychological problems, personality disorder, panic attacks, or an addiction to drugs and alcohol; or have been diagnosed with a learning or developmental disability
• Had back problems, hernia, ulcers or diabetes
• Have had stomach or intestine problems, including recent diarrhoea
• Taking prescription medications (with the exception of birth control or anti-malarial drugs other than mefloquine (Lariam)

Please do not book your dive before you have obtained medical clearance.

What's Included?

Each guest will take part in a 2.5-3 hour experience including:

• Introduction to scuba diving, briefing and training session (approx. 90 minutes)
  • 10:00am & 11:00am session will have an 8:45am check-in for a 9:00am brief.
  • 2:30pm & 3:30pm sessions will have a 1:15pm check-in for a 1:30pm brief.
• 30-minute dive face-to-fin with sharks, Sea Turtles and more in Night On The Reef.
• All dive equipment & wetsuit
• All-day admission to explore SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium

Before booking your Shark Dive, please take note of the following restrictions: 

• All divers MUST be age 14 or over
• DO NOT drink alcohol the night before your dive
• DO NOT fly in an aircraft within 12 hours after you dive
• You MUST have a reasonable degree of swimming ability
• If you are under the age of 18 you must have a parent or legal guardian attend check-in and the safety briefing (they do not need to complete the dive)
• If you are pregnant, or planning to become pregnant, please do not book.

We advise all divers to read our Shark Dive Xtreme terms and conditions before booking. If you are booking a dive or purchasing a gift voucher for another person, please ensure they are aware of these terms and conditions. 

 Payment
i. SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium (Shark Dive Xtreme tickets) are non-refundable and specific to the dive specified in the booking.
ii. A maximum of TWO (2) changes in the dive date or time or diver identity can be made up to 7 days prior to the scheduled dive. These changes are dependent upon availability and at the discretion of the Shark Dive Xtreme booking Coordinator.
iii. The first change can be made free of charge via the 'Manage my booking' portal up to 7 days prior to the scheduled dive.
iv. An administrative fee of $50 for the second will apply and is payable at the time of the change. This must be requested via our customer service team. 
v. Changes within 7 days of the dive will NOT be permitted.

All dives must be paid for at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed by SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium in advance. SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium reserves the right to cancel tickets purchased in advance which are not paid for.

Cancellation and refunds
i. Dives will not proceed should SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium decide that participation in a dive is unsafe, or for any other reason, at the absolute discretion of SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium.
ii. In the event that a dive is cancelled by SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium then divers will either be re-booked at the earliest possible time at the convenience of the divers, taking into account available places, or be issued with a refund voucher in the case of purchases bought through an agent, or be reimbursed the agent price paid for the ticket. The relevant party who has sold the ticket to the diver will make all reimbursements.
iii. There will be NO REFUND of a ticket by SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium except in accordance with these terms or as agreed in writing by SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium. In the exceptional case where a refund is granted, the refund will only be made to the person who purchased the ticket from SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium.
