August the Octopus joins the LEGO® Sea Explorers mission!
- Saturday 17th August 2019
Even our resident octopus August, is enjoying the LEGO® Sea Explorers activities that have taken over the aquarium this month!
August’s time was “octopied” today playing with her LEGO DUPLO® submarine.
“Octopuses are highly intelligent sea creatures that can identify different shapes and patterns, which is why they enjoy behavioural enrichment activities like playing with DUPLO. Like all octopuses, August is always interacting with her surroundings and we often give her extra toys to play with as an added form of entertainment,” said James Gilbert, Aquarist at SEA LIFE Melbourne.
August the octopus was “kracken” up with DUPLO today as part of SEA LIFE Melbourne’s LEGO Sea Explorers activities. Until Thursday 19 September, kids are invited to join the LEGO Sea Explorers on an interactive mission to record discoveries about the spectacular sea creatures at the underwater wonderland.
Kids can discover five interactive pods positioned around the aquarium where they will be challenged to build, draw, colour and create with LEGO!
Drawing inspiration from their deep sea surroundings, kids can enjoy hands-on LEGO fun while learning about SEA LIFE Melbourne’s magnificent marine creatures including sharks, seahorses and sea stars. Little explorers will have to complete the LEGO Fact Finder Activity Trail to succeed in their mission and receive a limited edition LEGO Sea Explorer sticker!
Everything will be awesome with Wyldstyle from The LEGO Movies diving in to meet kids on Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm – 4pm.
Visit SEA LIFE Melbourne until Thursday 19 September for an adventure with the LEGO Sea Explorers. For further information visit: www.melbourneaquarium.com.au/news/legoseaexplorers/. The LEGO lovers out there can purchase the Melbourne Big Ticket, which includes entry to SEA LIFE Melbourne and LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Melbourne, the ultimate indoor LEGO playground.
