Where to host corporate events and conferences in Melbourne.

  • Friday 6th September 2019

A strong culture creates a better workplace, so treat your team to a special group outing. For your conference, team building exercise, gala dinner, company anniversary, awards night, EOFY celebration or Christmas party – here are some of the best team event spaces in Melbourne.

Bury the Hatchet

Axe Throwing is a group activity that’s right on target (so to speak.) This activity is fast growing in popularity; due to word-of-mouth and its unusual nature. Each person takes turns to throw an axe at a target. There’s something exciting about participating in such a primal activity. But don’t be fooled – it’s not easy, and you’ll soon see who has leadership attributes. Nothing beats a bit of healthy competition to get your team performing at their best!

Happy Hour

Going to a bar could be a tedious experience for some of your team-mates; it’s important to remember, not everyone drinks alcohol. Take the focus off the drinks and put it firmly on the location. SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium does a brilliant after-work event called SEA LIFE Nights. We’re talking canapes, cocktails, and the chance to explore the Aquarium after dark. The night includes a fascinating talk on some of the Aquarium’s marine life, and there’s live music too. It’s a fun and inclusive way to encourage team bonding. Take things a step further with the venue hire of one of the Aquarium’s marine zones for your exclusive use. You can host a gala dinner, conference, or even an awards night through our Corporate Events and Private Functions team!

Here Be Dragons

Dragon Boats are seriously impressive; they’re large and solidly built, with a fierce, fiery dragon’s head at the bow. And paddling one is no easy task. Dragon boating is a classic teamwork builder; If you don’t pull your weight, the whole team suffers. It takes everyone involved to solve directional issues and to work together to win. Perseverance is the name of the game! Expect a fair amount of puffing and shouting, as the team hones their focus to be first across the finish line.

Aquatic Adventures

How many litres of seawater is in the Oceanarium? Oh, just a tiny 2.2 MILLION litres! Take your team to SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium, for a serene glide across the top of the Oceanarium in a Glass Bottom Boat Tour. Below you, huge sharks and thousands of fish swim by. And just wait until the giant stingrays surface! If your team is curious about the daily life of an Aquarist, treat them to the Behind the Scenes Tour.

If you want to take things up a notch, opt for the VIP Tour which combines both the Glass Bottom Boat AND the Behind the Scenes Tour in one awesome package. If you have a team of daredevils on your hands, consider a Shark Dive or Penguin Passport adventure!

There’s even a Treasure Hunt, complete with pirate hats, which is one of our corporate or group offerings; what a way to sharpen those problem-solving skills!

Three Cheers for Volunteers

Helping out with a community project has enormous benefits for business. Career engagement often comes with a social conscience. Employees want to make a difference in the lives of others, and if they can achieve this through the workplace, you’ll have a happier team. Contact your charity of choice to discover if they have a community involvement program. Check the SEA LIFE Trust website for opportunities to volunteer. From beach clean-ups to marine rehabilitation, there’s always an exciting way to get involved!

Our host of corporate and private events all offer terrific ways to bring your team together.
