Coral reef inhabitats
Dive into the midst of stunning corals in the tropics and marvel at the vibrant colors of the species!
At the coral reef, you can encounter the eternally lovely anemonefish, the goofy pufferfish, and the playful octopus.
Coral reefs are some of the most beautiful and important habitats on Earth! They cover less than 1% of the ocean floor, but over 25% (one-quarter) of the oceans depend on this habitat in some way to survive.
Pufferfish
Our beloved lens goby, the pufferfish named Pörrö, lives at the coral reef. You can often see this curious fish swimming right up against the aquarium glass.
Corals
Did you know that corals are not rocks or plants, but animals that belong to the same animal group as jellyfish, for example? Coral reefs are some of the most diverse habitats on Earth, but they are also extremely sensitive to climate change and pollution. SEA LIFE participates in various coral cultivation and conservation projects, and we have corals from several different tanks.
Clownfish
Did you know that all anemonefish are born male, and the leader of the group is always a female? If the community's female dies, the largest male will change its sex to female. Anemonefish are also immune to the stings of sea anemones and live in symbiosis with them.
