We are looking for employees who are available 1 or 2 days in the weekend for both entrance and retail.

Profile

As part of a busy team, you need to be well-organized, physically fit and able to work with others. You have excellent communication and previous skills, enjoy situations and are able to create a positive and innovative work atmosphere. You also have high standards when it comes to making our site clean and presentable, just as our visitors expect us to do. An approach to working hours is also the starting point.

Role and responsabilities

Fancy working in a fun and awesome aquarium with the only seal sanctuary in Belgium? We’re looking for a hardworking Aquarist. SEA LIFE Blankenberge has an interesting history but also a great future with 2024 having a great investment in local conservation, protecting our wonderful creatures both inside and outside of the building.

During a typical day, duties may include crafting enrichment for our penguins and otters, scrubbing the carapace of our large sea turtle, propagating corals, or getting stuck into project work. Other duties include preparing the feed for our large ocean sharks, culturing live food for our jellyfish and working towards the breeding of some on site species. Or even entering a display for siphoning and getting really close to our rays.

This role is full-time and permanent. This includes working a regular, fair share of weekends and public holidays as required, as well as providing emergency call out cover on a roster basis.

Qualifications and experience

  • You must have a valid driving license
  • Experience within public aquariums involving maintenance, plumbing and operation of large life support systems
  • Demonstrable experience of animal husbandry
  • An understanding of the fundamentals of water chemistry as applied to an aquarium environment
  • Solid understanding of the accurate use of theming, lighting, and water movement
  • A degree level qualification in animal care, marine biology or equivalent (desirable)
  • A professional level of dive qualification is also desirable
  • A desire to be involved with conservation and research projects protecting not just our animals inside the building but their wild counterparts

SEA LIFE Blankenberge is looking for enthusiastic a Guest Experience Duty Manager to help us lead our team in creating magical memories for our guests.

You will be at the heart of our operation at SEA LIFE Blankenberge. Your primary responsibility is serving as the Manager-on-Duty for the entire attraction, ensuring efficient operation of our Admissions Department, Retail Shop and Attraction. You will also play a vital role in developing our front-line staff to deliver world class customer service every day. They do this with a smile and they know how to have fun!

 

Serve as Manager on Duty for the Attraction, includes but not limited to:

  • Oversee the smooth operation of all departments including Admissions, Attraction and Retail
  • ​Delegate and monitor daily assignments for front line staff.
  • Lead and motivate staff to be “guest obsessed” and provide exemplary customer service.
  • Uphold all health and safety policies and procedures and ensure all teams are compliant.
  • Manage queues and guest flow within the busiest areas of the attraction in the safest and most optimal way.
  • Efficiently respond to guest issues and concerns throughout the day by communicating amongst relevant departments.
  • ​Ensure that team members are empowered to deliver outstanding customer service including guest recovery as needed.
  • When not duty managing, you will support your respective department in areas such as training, stocking, inventory controls, employee engagement, and scheduling.

This role is a 6 month Fixed -Term contract, with the possibility of extension.

Role and responsabilities

Are you looking for a job that’s full of FUN and do you have an eye for perfection? Working here feels pretty outstanding and our cleaning team are a vital ingredient in the guest experience! Therefore, we’re looking for someone who strives for the best.

Come and join our cleaning team and be part of the magic! Help us ensure our attraction is always looking presentable and clean for our guests daily, making sure we provide outstanding service to customers and meet the highest of standards in cleanliness and presentation.

This is a part-time role, working 2 days per week. It will be your responsibility to ensure that the attraction is litter free, clean, hygienic, and presentable for guests. In addition to all attraction spaces you’ll clean staff areas and the visitor and staff toilets daily. As you’ll be out and about in the attraction, you’ll also have contact with our guests so you’ll be answering questions and doing all you can to help our visitors have an outstanding experience.

 

Qualifications and experience

  • High standards and great attention to detail
  • Cleaning experience (preferable but not crucial)
  • Experience in handling cleaning products and chemicals (training is given though)
  • The ability to work to timescales using own initiative

Role and responsabilities

  • Work closely with Marketing Manager and General Manager of the attractions to support and develop site marketing, schools and groups strategies and drive sales.
  • Execute activities targeting schools/groups/nursery/preschool/daycare and educational organizations.
  • Drive volume through group organizations such as summer camps/summer schools, after school programs, etc.
  • Execute activities targeting local hotels and trade partners.
  • Deliver visitor volume and revenue with a specific focus on midweek volume to drive revenue targets and spends per head.
  • Heavy telephone and email contact with school and daycare programs, birthdays of families, hotel contacts, and relevant local group contacts.
  • Coordinate group arrivals with the operations team.
  • Coordinate birthday party operations.
  • Support overall site Marketing strategy and functions.
  • Work with operations in coordinating and executing special events.
  • Participates in trade shows and adult night events when necessary.
  • Adopts an enthusiastic, assertive, and passionate approach to guest service, and demonstrates the Merlin Values at every opportunity.
  • Other projects as assigned by the Marketing Manager and General Manager.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in marketing, group sales, and event coordination preferred.
  • A passionate and driven sales and marketing professional able to influence across all levels.
  • The ability to network and influence community stakeholders.
  • The ability to enthusiastically support guests and their families.
  • Powerful presentation skills and the confidence to represent the business.
  • Strong computer skills. Ability to utilize standard software applications, including MS Office suite. Editing software knowledge is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and multitask as necessary.
  • Highly organized, flexible, and willing and able to complete tasks within deadlines.
  • Possess strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Desire to work in fast-paced environments.
