Could you be the first ever Rockpool Ranger here at SEA Blackpool Blackpool?

The Rockpool at SEA LIFE Blackpool is home to more than 2,500 different species found on our coasts, in small pools of water when the tide goes out.

As part of their role, the new Rockpool Ranger will help teach visitors of all ages about how the aquarium supports the local environment and what vital work is being done to protect and rescue rare creatures.

Scott Blacker, head aquarist at SEA LIFE Blackpool, said: “Protecting ocean wildlife is the most important thing to us at SEA LIFE Blackpool, and we hope that children with a passion for sea creatures and their conservation will apply to be our first ever Rockpool Ranger and help us raise awareness and spread the message.”

Taking place on Saturdays throughout the year, volunteers sign up to help clear plastic bags, old phone covers, disposable cutlery, drinks bottles, batteries and other waste products from the beach to stop it from reaching the sea.

SEA LIFE Blackpool’s new Rockpool Rangers will play a crucial role in driving forward the aquarium’s goal of protecting the oceans and the creatures that live there.

Anyone who thinks they have what it takes should submit a short video of themselves talking about why there are perfect for the role and why protecting endangered marine life is important to them.

The new Rockpool Ranger will be on the voiceover for the area at the aquarium.

Submit a short video via social media with the hashtag #RockPoolRanger and tag @SEALIFEBlackpool to enter.

The lucky winner will then be invited to record the voiceover for the Rockpool area at SEA LIFE Blackpool, which will be played to thousands of visitors to the aquarium, educating them about conservation and marine life.

The closing date for entries is 12.00pm on Tuesday, April 25.
