Snorkelling with sharks at SEA LIFE Kelly Tarlton's Aquarium is an exhilarating experience and one of only a few experiences worldwide where you're guaranteed an underwater encounter with sharks.
NO PREVIOUS DIVING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!
You'll not only come face-to-fin with School and Broadnose Sevengill Sharks, you'll also snorkel with other local Auckland marine life. Be submerged with massive stingrays (and we mean MASSIVE) and hundreds of amazing sea creatures with nothing but a cage between you!
Shark Cage Snorkel
The cage is submerged in our predator tank so you're guaranteed to have a close encounter of the shark kind, every time. Through the cage's clear perspex bottom you can marvel at sharks, stingrays, and other fish from New Zealand's coastal waters swimming below, or past the mesh walls of the cage - often only feet away.
This snorkel experience is the easiest, safest, and most exciting way to meet the often feared predators of the deep!

- All participants MUST be over 1.3 meters tall.
- Any participant aged under 18 years MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is participating in the experience.
- Participants aged under 18 years MUST have a Risk Declaration Form signed by a parent or legal guardian.
- If you are pregnant you will not be allowed to participate in this Animal Adventure.
- Strict wet suit sizing limitation applies
Bookings ARE ESSENTIAL for all experiences. The availability of Animal Adventures programs are limited and can be pre-booked online.

Wet Suit Sizing
Wet suit sizing limitations strictly apply, please refer to table below for guidance.
What you need to bring?
Bring: Swimming togs, a towel and a bag to carry your wet gear after your session. You should wear covered footwear as you will be entering our back of house area.
Everything else is provided - spring suit, booties, and mask & snorkel.
Bring your own underwater recording device (Go-Pro or similar) to capture footage of your experience.

Please note this important information
- If you are pregnant you will not be allowed to participate in this Shark Adventure.
- Minimum height restriction is 1.3 metres. The tank is 3.3 metres deep.
- All persons aged 17 and under must have signed parental/legal guardian consent (guardian must be 18 years or older) and must be accompanied into the Shark Cage by an adult 18years or older.
- Participants must follow the instructions given by the guide
- All participants must complete and sign both the Kelly Tarlton's Animal Adventure Terms and Conditions which includes a Statement of Understanding and Assumption of Risk Agreement and the Medical Declaration. If applicable, a doctor's medical clearance must be displayed to the adventure guide.
- If you are purchasing this experience as a gift you must make the recipient aware of the Terms and Conditions which includes a Statement of Understanding and Assumption of Risk Agreement and the Medical Declaration.

The water inside the tank is between 16-20 degrees Celsius year round. So any time of the year is a great time!

The booking time is the session start time. We operate the Shark Cage Adventure at 10am and 11:30am on Saturdays and Sundays. You will need to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the session start time.
You should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your session start time to get ready for the experience. We are usually very busy during school holidays, carpark might be full, we recommend that you plan ahead and allow plenty of time.
Swimming togs, a towel and a bag to carry your wet gear after your session.
Please also wear closed toes shoes as you will be walking around our back of house area.
No, however, you are welcome to bring your own underwater camera if you wish to film your experience.
Come through our Main Entrance and let our Admissions staff know your booking number. If you have a Gift Voucher or a third party voucher, please ensure to present it with a Shark Cage time slot booking number.
Yes, your Shark Cage Adventure ticket includes all day entry to the aquarium. You are welcome to stay for as long as you wish.
There's no age limit to participate, however, participant must be 1.3m or taller.

Our Shark Cage Adventure does not have a weight limit. Our largest spring suit is 4XL.
Yes, it is an underwater experience. Make sure to bring a towel with you to dry off!
- This ticket is non-refundable.
- Date changes are not permitted 3 days or less before the booked experience.
- Date changes are possible 4 or more days before the booked experience subject to availability, with notice in writing to operations@kellytarltons.co.nz.
- Transfers to friends/family members possible as long as friend/family member meets participation criteria.
Spectators are welcomed. However, since all child (3-15yrs) must be supervised by an adult at all times, you will need to arrange an adult to be with your child if you are going to be in the Shark Cage.
My boyfriend booked the shark cage experience for my birthday and I was so nervous but omg it was so worth it. We got so up close with the sharks and the giant sting ray. Well worth the money
The cage diving was amazing and our diver was really great and very informative about all the animals we got to see during the dive. We were also able to get all the footage on a GoPro so we have video evidence too.
A highlight of our holiday in New Zealand was the shark cage experience. It was awesome and meant we got up close to the sharks and stingrays!
